This online marketplace has updated its size classifications for women's and children's clothes but did not contact every member regarding the update. Digital Channels Response Numerous buyers and vendors are posting online saying Vinted listings now show an altered size classification compared to what was initially listed because of the remapping. Vinted explained the revised method more closely matches comparable marketplaces. The platform has recommended to examine their items and manually change the size when needed, which has left users frustrated. Measurement Approach Changes Before the change, the sizes had both one number and one letter, such as S/8 or M/10. The revised method features an alphabetical indicator and numerical range like S/UK 8-10. For certain items, the sizing has been recategorised - like an L measurement was formerly size 12 but is now a UK 16-18. Member Experiences Frankie Bridger, who produces content about larger sizing, said the change "makes both selling and buying harder". "Not many brands say XL is a 20-22," which is what Vinted now does. Another user, from Glasgow, stated items she posted on Vinted with size 14 labels were displaying on the service as size 20–22. "Should someone sized 20-22 purchase these they're going to be very disappointed," she stated. Manual Updates Charlotte Lunn, based in Derby, stated she felt frustrated by the change as she had to manually change the measurements for "each individual item". "This situation is especially annoying, as I'm chronically ill and platform income has been essential following partial earnings loss," she explained. Platform Context The app has more than 100 million shoppers, comprising 18 million UK members. It has proved a popular alternative compared to resale services such as eBay and Depop. This isn't the first time when a surprising modification within the service has received backlash: earlier, the platform withdrew an update to its shipping options following member complaints.
